Pi Day is celebrated on
March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the
symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the
circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.
Pi has been calculated to
over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. As an irrational and
transcendental number, it will continue infinitely without repetition or
pattern. While only a handful of digits are needed for typical calculations,
Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorize, and to
computationally calculate more and more digits.
I’m sorry, they lost me at “Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorize, and to
computationally calculate…” While I will cop to owning a “cutie π”
t-shirt for this very day, irrational or not, there’s nothing about this transcendental number that would make me write
a blog about it. BUT if you know me…you know where I’m going with this…
What better way to celebrate
Pi Day than with pie!?!?!? I love pie!!! Pie is on the very short list of my
favorite things. You know Oprah had her annual favorite things. It’s kind of
like that…but not.
Anyhooooo…I say today is a
day to celebrate Pi with pie. What better excuse could one have for eating pie?
I love pie. All kinds of pies. Chocolate pies, apple pies, cherry pies, cream
pies, all kinds of pies!!!! OMG pies!!!!!! I could never pick a favorite pie—EVER.
Favorite Drink: Diet Coke
Favorite Candy: Skittles
Favorite Snack: Nutella
See. Easy. Those answers
came out without a second thought.
Favorite Pie: …………………………………..
I went to a place called Dangerously Delicious Pies with Kelly last summer and it was
probably one of the happiest days of my life. So. Much. Yummy. I couldn’t
decide and I think I may have bought 3 different kinds of pie. I’m telling you
that you should add Dangerously Delicious
Pies to your bucket list. I’m soooooo going back! Kelly + Pie=what more
could I ask for?!?!
So here’s your chance to
have a reason to consume the goodness that is pie…in honor of Pi Day. Your high
school math teacher would be proud! In fact, I’m sure he or she would insist on
it. Even if your former teacher isn’t insisting on it, I am! Pie for everyone!!!!
I’ll be over here deciding what kind of pie I want if you need me.
Have a beautiful day!
xoxo
